Why Do People Go To Church?
Usually people start out going to church because they believe in God. When the believing grows cold and the flame of faith dies out attendance does also. Without heart involvement, people have to have other reasons to come and sing songs about things they don’t believe and sit and listen to a “lecture” on something they don’t think is relevant.
Religion obliges those that have grown cold and have offered people other things other than the original reason they came, which is to get to know the true and living God.
The heartfelt reason people go to church is because they want to experience the presence of God. Deep down on the inside of every church attendee there is the longing to see the God of the Bible manifest Himself. Sad to say, the reason many have stopped or never have attended church is because they have never experienced nor heard of those attending church experiencing the God of the Bible.
Many talk about what God can do, but when was the last time you saw the sick healed (supernaturally) or a sinner come into the church and run up to the altar to be saved?
1 Kings 18:22-39 (MSG) Then Elijah said, “I’m the only prophet of GOD left in Israel; and there are four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal. Let the Baal prophets bring up two oxen; let them pick one, butcher it, and lay it out on an altar on firewood—but don’t ignite it. I’ll take the other ox, cut it up, and lay it on the wood. But neither will I light the fire. Then you pray to your gods and I’ll pray to GOD. The god who answers with fire will prove to be, in fact, God.” All the people agreed: “A good plan—do it!” Elijah told the Baal prophets, “Choose your ox and prepare it. You go first, you’re the majority. Then pray to your god, but don’t light the fire.”
So they took the ox he had given them, prepared it for the altar, then prayed to Baal. They prayed all morning long, “O Baal, answer us!” But nothing happened—not so much as a whisper of breeze. Desperate, they jumped and stomped on the altar they had made. By noon, Elijah had started making fun of them, taunting, “Call a little louder—he is a god, after all. Maybe he’s off meditating somewhere or other, or maybe he’s gotten involved in a project, or maybe he’s on vacation. You don’t suppose he’s overslept, do you, and needs to be waked up?” They prayed louder and louder, cutting themselves with swords and knives—a ritual common to them—until they were covered with blood. This went on until well past noon. They used every religious trick and strategy they knew to make something happen on the altar, but nothing happened—not so much as a whisper, not a flicker of response.
Then Elijah told the people, “Enough of that—it’s my turn. Gather around.” And they gathered. He then put the altar back together for by now it was in ruins. Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes of Jacob, the same Jacob to whom GOD had said, “From now on your name is Israel.” He built the stones into the altar in honor of GOD. Then Elijah dug a fairly wide trench around the altar. He laid firewood on the altar, cut up the ox, put it on the wood, and said, “Fill four buckets with water and drench both the ox and the firewood.” Then he said, “Do it again,” and they did it. Then he said, “Do it a third time,” and they did it a third time. The altar was drenched and the trench was filled with water.
When it was time for the sacrifice to be offered, Elijah the prophet came up and prayed, “O GOD, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, make it known right now that you are God in Israel, that I am your servant, and that I’m doing what I’m doing under your orders. Answer me, GOD; O answer me and reveal to this people that you are GOD, the true God, and that you are giving these people another chance at repentance.” Immediately the fire of GOD fell and burned up the offering, the wood, the stones, the dirt, and even the water in the trench. All the people saw it happen and fell on their faces in awed worship, exclaiming, “GOD is the true God! GOD is the true God!”
Where is the God of Elijah?
What do you need in your Church to have the true presence of God – signs and wonders – miracles – liberty! It all starts with Faith and Obedience.
WHO TO VOTE FOR?
Well no one can tell another person who to vote for however let me pass along some wisdom that applies to all endeavors.
Do you read the back of contracts before signing them?
Do you read the side effects of medication before taking them?
Do you read the manual of a product before using it?
If you are like most people – you don’t. The same is true, sad to say, about most American voters. Based on talking with numerous people over the years, I find that many vote for those who don’t align with what they value.
I have had several discussions with those who are against abortion, for or against government health care, or for or against tax issues, and the list does go on; but, when they vote, they don’t read the records they listen to the rhetoric. They don’t read the platforms of the party they are about to put into authority over them, they don’t know the record of the candidate they are voting for, and they don’t know how the issue they are voting yes or no for will affect their future or the future of their children.
Who should you vote for? You must decide but don’t just roll the dice, be an informed voter. Do your homework. And, if you are a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ, and a person who lives your life to bring glory to God, you should make sure that who or what you are voting for lines up with what the Bible says, God’s values, your values.
Visit the websites below and read what the parties stand for and do your research on the candidates who are running for office and see how they have voted in the past and the platforms that they stand for.
“Do two people walk hand in hand if they aren’t going to the same place?” Amos 3:3 (MSG)
Are You Running Out of Gas?
Do you feel like you are running out of gas? When you have gas you have power and you continue moving along the highway. When you’re on empty we all know it, there you sit stranded on the side of the road.
When it comes to living the type of life that God has commanded us to live, you need gas! You need the type of high octane gas that only comes from the power of God. The power of God strengthens you and gives you the ability to keep going even when the going seems tough.
God said in Hebrews 4:16, for us to come boldly to “the throne of grace”, God’s filling station to receive grace in our time of need!
God’s Word is how He dispenses His power. When you believe in and put confidence in God and His Word, you will act on it and the power of God will be rereleased in your life. When we dispense gas (Word) into our cars tank (spirit), the key (faith) is turned and we are able to access that power. And then, you have to put your faith in gear (by acting on God’s Word) and press on the accelerator by continuing to act on God’s Word so that you can get moving and receive what you are believing for.
God’s Grace is His power that He has and continues to willingly give to you. It was the power of God that sent Jesus to die for your sins and then raised Him from the dead. The way God gives you more grace is by you spending time in His Word and then when you believe God’s Word and speak what you believe, God’s grace is released.
Are you running out of gas? Then fill up on the Word of God and release God’s grace by confessing the Word out loud from your heart!
The Supreme Court has passed a law that overturns a law that has been on the books since the beginning of man’s existence. From man’s beginning, the “law of sin and death” was declared by The Supreme Court – our Creator God.
God is not the one that causes the misfortunes in the earth, but because men and women violate the law of sin and death, misfortunes happen. When this law is violated, justice comes into play and misfortunes go into motion. The soul or person that sins (throws off God’s will/restraints) shall die – is the law of sin and death. Death is separation! Death separates people from God, the spirit of a person from their body, body from life/health, earth from prosperity and so forth.
Good News! The Supreme Court, God being the Judge, has passed a new law overturning the law of sin and death.
For this cause, those who are in Christ Jesus will not be judged as sinners.
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1-2 (BBE)
Those who accept the “verdict” of Jesus versus sin, that He took our place and also took our punishment for breaking the law of sin of death, and then, confess the new law of “Life in Christ Jesus”, are freed from the law of sin and death.
Accept Jesus’ sacrifice for you and learn to live – I mean really live – “IT’S THE LAW!”
